You can hide a folder by making it invisible replacing the standard folder
icon with a blank one and renaming it to a non-displaying character.

How to create a ghost folder in Windows: right-click on the folder icon and
select Properties, Customize Tab then the Change Icon button at the bottom.
You will find some blank icons. Select one and click OK. Your folder icon
should now have disappeared.
To hide the name box right click on the folder icon you want to hide and
select rename. Activate the Numlock and press Alt+0160 then press Enter.
